You know those songs that can both cheer you right up or make you super nostalgic? And when you start listening to them, you never know if afterwards you’re gonna feel down in the dumps or on top of the world! Either it’s the sound of the song or the memory that goes with it, these songs take me straight to some other place!
I’ll keep adding to this page over time, feel free to send me a few of your make it or break it songs!
Bombay Bicycle Club – Shuffle * Hearing this song, I think summer. Lying on a towel in the most random places just enjoying the first sun rays pretending sun is what you breath, eat, sleep.
Milky Chance – Stolen Dance * One of the many songs I played over and over in the car while road tripping through West Australia. This song makes me think about exploring, about that amazing feeling you have when you watch landscapes that you could never imagine existing go by through your car window. About that amazing feeling of driving in the middle of nowhere, winging it in the corners because there is no one else on the road anyways. That amazing feeling of travelling with no plan and no end destination, just letting the adventure rule your trip.
Jack Johnson – In Between Dreams (album) * There is no better album for a peaceful seaside day. Or a quiet wander through a sunny park. Or any other sunny situation. For me, this album always takes me straight back to Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia. We went on a tour of the island with a local guide from the nearby Rainbow Beach, and were amazed by this versatile island with its massive trees growing on the beach sand, the beautiful lakes with sand so thin and white and the water so still it was a perfect mirror of the green surroundings. We watched the dingos play on the beach, drifted along a river into the ocean, swam in the mirror lake, picnicked in the fresh forest, and listened to Jack Johnson. What a peaceful and satisfying day!
